Pre-Menstrual Syndrome Relief
PRE-MENSTRUAL SYNDROME RELIEF:
Australian women may no longer have to endure the painful symptoms of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome with new research proving the positive effects of chiropractic care on the debilitating condition.
Research just released, shows that chiropractic adjustments could relieve symptoms endured by "PMS" sufferers.
It is estimated that up to 90% of women can suffer from some form of PMS with 10 -20% experiencing severe or disabling symptoms.
The head of research at the Chiropractic Unit at RMIT University, Dr Max Walsh, said that research was a significant development for women’s health.
"While chiropractors and their patients have long known about the positive effects of chiropractic on PMS, this is the first Australian research study undertaken to prove that it can relieve the difficult suffering many women experience each month," said Dr Walsh.
"The research showed that the severity of PMS symptoms were lessened for some women who received chiropractic adjustments and soft-tissue therapy." The trial was conducted over a three year period, taking place in seven different private chiropractic clinics.
Women between the ages of 25 and 44 completed the trial and received chiropractic treatment consisting of spinal adjustments and soft-tissue therapy for a minimum of three cycles followed by a mock chiropractic treatment consisting of fake adjustments for a further three cycles (the so-called placebo treatment).
"Each of the women recorded their major symptoms on a daily basis and found that symptoms were lessened," said Dr Walsh.
PMS refers to a wide range of symptoms women experience during the premenstrual phase of their cycle.
"They may suffer physical, psychological, and behavioural symptoms; some of the most common being mood swings, food cravings, joint tenderness, and abdominal cramping. Women who suffer severe PMS often seek relief from medications, vitamin supplements, diet control and exercise programs."
"Whilst these methods can certainly provide assistance, we believe that the natural treatment of chiropractic is one of the best." Dr Walsh concluded.
HERE'S A THOUGHT!!

CHIROPRACTIC PHILOSOPHY:
"Chiropractors adjust, by hand, all displacements of the 200 bones, more especially those of the vertebral column, for the purpose of removing nerve impingements which are the cause of deranged functions. The long bones & the vertebral processes are used as levers by which to adjust displacements of osseous tissue of the body. By so doing, normal transmission of nerve-force is restored."
